I had a heck of a time getting this to work, and this is just as much for my notes as it is for the wider web world’s usage.<\/p>\n
To use the pretty links of WordPress, I had to enable mod_rewrite in Apache. \u00a0Which was actually already enabled with my default installation.<\/p>\n
I was using virtual hosts in the \/etc\/httpd\/conf.d<\/em> directory, so I made sure that the <Directory> configuration included these lines:<\/p>\n AllowOverride All<\/em> Also I made sure that that virtual host itself had these options set:<\/p>\n Options Includes MultiViews -Indexes FollowSymLinks SymLinksIfOwnerMatch<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n But to my deepest chagrin, it still wasn’t working. \u00a0After laying my head down on my desk and allowing the tears to flow like a mountain spring, I girded up my loins and looked again.<\/p>\n In Apache’s main config file,\u00a0\/etc\/httpd\/conf\/httpd.conf\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0I found an AllowOverride \u00a0None<\/em> line! \u00a0NO! \u00a0I was beat by my own laziness and ignorance again. \u00a0I commented out that line, and pretty links suddenly worked.<\/p>\n Learn from my mistakes, Future Dewey\/World at Large. \u00a0Don’t let it fool you again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I had a heck of a time getting this to work, and this is just as much for my notes as it is for the wider web world’s usage.
